Day Trips

I love day trips and short overnight trips. It's a nice, inexpensive way to see the state I live in. I'm so blessed to be able to take several day trips a year with my sister. We always take a whole Saturday, and it is just the two of us. We have been to Cameron, Wilmington, and Charlotte, among other places. Some places we return to multiple times.

A couple of weekends ago, Hannah decided that I needed to visit the Ikea store in Charlotte. I had heard so much about it and was DYING to go but hadn't had the chance before. So, I swung by Hannah's apartment around 7am and we began the 3 hour trek to Charlotte. We talked non-stop, so time flew by.

By the time we got to Charlotte, we were hungry and tired of being in a car. Hannah had eaten at a great little place called Zada Jane's before that she wanted to take me to. We ate outside in the beautiful fall weather.

I ate every bit of my:
Bunny Rancheros $8.95
two fried happy eggs, black beans, home fries, your choice of: chorizo, turkey sausage, or soysage, topped with a white queso and pepper jack cheese sauce, guacamole, salsa verde and cilantro crema - served with warm flour tortillas.

Oh my....it was so yum! Their sausage is from a local farm and it was delish! I am very picky about meat:)

After breakfast, we spent a couple of hours at Ikea. I bought a few things for the house and have some ideas for the future. It really is a neat store.

Hannah tries out a fun little chair.
After shopping, we headed to Amelie's French Cafe for drinks and pastries.
I tried to get a photo of us with the cafe behind us but the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't tell what I was doing. I found a new brand (to me) of root beer that I love! Sprecher's!! YUMMY!
After that, we drove around Charlotte admiring the historic houses and buildings. Hannah got excited about seeing the republican picketers. I can't remember what they were picketing...gun control? Marriage?
It was a really fun day, the best I've had in a long time. I enjoyed the time with my sister, the weather was perfect, and food and shopping are true therapy indeed:)

Next up: Another short jaunt, only this time....with my dear hubby:)

How cool! Ikea is on my list of places to visit one day!
And here's another thing to add to your list:

Jennifer, I vote we get a few gal pals together and go! Monica, I have a friend (you've met Bobbie) who enters that contest and WINS every time she enters, I think. I definitely would love to go some year.
