From Dad

Yesterday, I accidentally stumbled upon an old website of my Dad's. It really was accidental, I had completely forgotten he had the site, he hasn't updated it in a couple of years. I was google-ing something else and up his name popped. I found a story he wrote for Lauren and wanted to post it here. Here's how he prefaced the story:
The inspiration for "Lauren and the Sock Gremlin" came from my granddaughter who was born with spina bifida.  Though limited by her physical handicap, she has all the dreams and interests of any little girl her age.  More than once I have seen her dressed in one of her princess dresses, and she will say, "Watch, Granddaddy."  She will twirl on her knees to make the dress flare out as if she were Cinderella at the ball.

Recently, now at the age of four, Lauren has begun to walk with a walker.  It's a struggle, but Lauren is determined.  Soon, she will begin to question why she was born in such a way that she can't run and jump the way her brothers and sister can.  It is our prayer that she will understand that God made her with a special purpose in mind, a purpose that can only be lived out in total surrender to Him.

And you can go here for the story itself:  Sock Gremlin

I'm so glad to have this story to give to my children from their grandfather. Thank you God, for sweet reminders and wonderful blessings!
